Book Baskets
The Bird City Public Library was awarded a Cheyenne County Hansen Community Grant of $1500 in 2019.
This is an opportunity to help our community in many ways. First, buying books for some may be cost prohibitive. If we can donate books to the kids, it helps the parents out. Hopefully we instill in these children a love of learning through reading. Second, we have a chance to help our pre-k kids with reading readiness through purchasing flash cards, books and/or other items to facilitate learning. This is an opportunity to instill confidence and self-reliance in students as they prepare for entry into grade school. For our K-3rd graders we can help them to enjoy reading and also help in a small way for school readiness. I understand the importance of reading and want to make a difference in our community, and I think this project can help.
