Historic Bird City Observatory Relocation
The Thresher Association was awarded a Cheyenne County Hansen Community Grant of $4500 in 2019.
The observatory is an important part of the Bird City history, having being designed and built by a local farmer with help of Edgar Robinson our banker, enjoyed by our residents and students for years and due to scheduling of classes been unused for the past few years. Everyone who has seen the work and design required to build it is amazed. As near as we know this is the only working Observatory in Northwest Kansas and our plans once it is moved to make it available to students from all schools in our area. This grant provided funds to move the observatory from the school grounds to the Thresher grounds.
